Evaluation Question 3

Evaluation Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The media product which I made was a thriller opening title sequence. The plot which me and my group had decided to base our thriller opening on was that of a young man whom had a split personality, otherwise known as schizophrenia, and was swapping in and out of his evil and good side. Many different factors and conventions were needed to be considered when I and my group were creating our thriller opening, due to this we used out knowledge about thrillers to our advantage.

Titles and Credits
The credits which we used had been decided upon by the way a previous thriller film had been made, so as a group we made this our inspiration for our credits and also our titles. Through our opening sequence an array of fonts and appearances had been made with out titles, purposely being placed in our opening sequence at random times and in random positions to give a sense of disorder and confusion.

Sound
As a group we realized that having sound in our thriller opening sequence would be a major factor and was a must have. This in fact was a challenge because we needed to create a atmospheric, intense piece of music to go under the footage we filmed and due to this fact it was left to me to create the music on garage band. After gathering verbal feedback from the others in our group and family members we came to the conclusion that 'unnatural' sounding instruments gave the most amount of intensity, therefore I used unnatural sounding instruments to create the piece of music for our thriller. From research telling us that atmospheric music was important in a thriller film I made in my first priority to create an intense, somewhat scary piece of music.

Characters
We realized as a group that characters would play a huge part in the making of our thriller opening sequence, therefore we decided to create a character to feature in our film which would indeed add a large amount of enigma and curiosity due to the fact that we're creating a thriller. From our audience research as a group we realized that from the results we gathered that the audience we were targeting would rather a dark seeded character than a bright perky character.

Costumes and Props
For our thriller my group realized and focused on the use of costumes to our advantage. Costumes in our thriller were a main part due to the fact we used a mask for part of it. This costume / prop piece was important because it not only added enigma which is vital to an thriller but also to give a differentiation in our thriller opening sequence to others we'd witnessed previously. The use of other props were minor, since the only other important prop was in fact a knife which our model pulled from his coat. This although was a small prop, we'd specifically set part of our thriller opening in a graveyard, and used the graveyard as a whole prop, of sorts.

Use of enigma
A thriller wouldn't be a thriller without enigma, the whole idea of a thriller is to have mystery and enigma. This can be created from the properties that we used for our thriller, such as the character, location, props and costume and generally the recording and editing, and how we preformed them.

Editing
In our thriller opening sequence my group and I used specific methods go create enigma, curiosity, danger and also problematic situations. The effects which we used where flickering and jumping of the picture to create a sense of disorder and dimension of reality. We did this so that our audience would feel disorientated and confused during different scenes we shot, and add mystery to our strange character presented.
